SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail protection system, that is employed to confirm whether an e-mail message is sent by a certified server. Employing SPF protection for a domain will stop the faking of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain name creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP of the servers which are allowed to send emails from mail boxes using the domain. As soon as this record propagates globally, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever an email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks if it originates from an accredited server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, however when it does not originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody will mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam. This approach is also identified as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

You can enable the SPF protection option for your domain names with just a couple of clicks inside the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all of our Linux cloud hosting. This is done via the section with the same name and you'll be able to enable the protection for each domain hosted on our revolutionary cloud platform. Using a very user-friendly interface, all you need to submit is the hostname of the mail server that will be accredited to send messages from your emails and its IPv4 or IPv6 address. Of course, it is possible to include several servers too, when needed. In case your e-mail addresses are managed on our end, you may also employ a more secure option by placing a restriction that emails can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This option can't be used in case your website is here, and the e-mails are with a third-party supplier. In either case, the SPF protection option will vastly enhance your web security and stop others from forging your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is available with all of the Linux semi-dedicated servers, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to activate this particular service with ease for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a very intuitive interface, which means that you will not need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your emails. You'll only have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be permitted to send emails from your addresses and shortly after that the updated record will be active for the domain name that you have picked. As a further option, we'll also give you the ability to control the outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes further by allowing messages to be sent only if the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name need to be managed by us and not by another provider. Thus you will enjoy even superior control and there won't be any chances for any person to fake your emails for malicious uses.
